My art is realistic. I like to search out the unusual and curious, which verge on what I like to call realistic abstract. Most of my life I have had a hard time appreciating the world of abstracts. But more and more I have been creating my paintings to call out a certain amount of confusion.

I am attracted to things I do not understand myself. Once I recognized my consternation with the seeming looseness of abstracts, I felt challenged to search out my own form of them. I like to sustain some structure, borrowed from everyday items and the complex simplicities of God's creation in nature.

Once I snap a prospective picture I see what it speaks to me right away. At different times in my life I see new messages in my collection of future paintings a nd I try to choose the picture that speaks the strongest message to me at that time.

In my painting titled, inSPIR[AL] I am attracted to the strange green flower that spirals in a curious partnership with the back of a small wrought-iron bench. As with the rust of the iron, most of my paintings portray a certain beauty of the wearing away of an aspect of the image. Life comes from death, as the seed dies to grow, and so I enjoy finding healing in my resent beauty for ashes theme.

I have worked with ceramics, charcoal, pen and ink, oil pastels and color pencils, but mostly I create with acrylics. I would like to explore the different mediums of acrylics, and incorporate foreign items, such as, beads and string, and pieces of wood and metal to contribute a 3-Dimentional look to my developing artwork.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my site. I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding my work or custom orders.
